What is PG&E’s Hourly Flex Pricing Pilot?
This pilot allows you to benefit from hourly pricing—that’s often lower than standard rate plans — and earn PG&E credits by shifting your energy usage to those times when energy supply is at its highest.
Not sure how to shift your energy usage? CaliCharge has got you covered. The app will automatically optimize your California EV charging to help maximize your credits.
What’s in it for You?

CaliCharge automatically schedules your EV’s charging based on PG&E’s hourly rates, so you can shift your usage automatically and earn PG&E credits to lower future electric bills.
Save More with Smart Charging
CaliCharge will only charge your EV during off-peak hours, reducing your electricity costs throughout the year. You can track your California EV charging costs in the CaliCharge app at any time.

How It Works
1. Sign Up
CaliCharge will handle your sign-up with PG&E, ensuring you’re all set up for the pilot. Earn a $50 sign on reward voucher when you download the CaliCharge app and connect your EV.
2. Let CaliCharge Optimize Your Charging
PG&E updates electricity prices daily at 4pm. CaliCharge will automatically charge your EV during off-peak hours, while optimizing against the hourly prices – so you pay less today and maximize your opportunity for future bill credits. For example, if the cheapest hours are between 3 AM and 6 AM, that’s when we’ll charge your EV. To maximize your credits, we recommend setting your ‘’ready by’’ time to the exact time you’ll need to use your car.
3. Pay Your Standard Energy Rate
Your charging costs appear in the CaliCharge app at your standard energy rate. Pay your electric bill normally and receive a monthly report from PG&E detailing your accumulated credits.
4. Get Your Credit
CaliCharge will help you earn PG&E credits when the hourly flex prices are lower than your standard rates. After 12 months, you’ll receive your PG&E credits based on the difference between your standard rate plan costs and your performance on the hourly flex pricing pilot rate.
